DRAWING HOMES
Ozlem loved drawing, dreaming about, and designing houses when she was growing up. Not only was she talented at drawing, but she was drawn into the beauty, design, and decorating aspect of it as well. She always had a great eye for aesthetics which, today in Real Estate, helps her both in staging homes and helping others visualize how a home will work for them. From wanting to be an architect to studying business administration and finance in college, to working in accounting, Ozlem has a perfect background that set her up for a successful career in Real Estate.
STAY STRONG AFTER A STORM
“My parents influenced me in many ways. My dad was the biggest influence on me, not only with his great work ethic and loyalty but also by doing his best to improve his family’s life standards as well as others around him. I think I learned to be a problem solver and how to stay strong and improve even after a really strong storm. Both my parents helped everyone around them as much as they could and always stayed grateful in any situation, in any hardship. I can proudly say that these are the things I could also pass along to my daughters.”
GOOD THINGS COME IN 2'S
2 continents, 2 citizenships, 2 languages, 2 kids at the same time (twins). Ozlem knows how to multitask! As she raised her twins in a new country by herself, doing 2 things at the same time is a breeze for her. She believes in the importance of staying calm, balanced and positive, no matter what life brings her way. She is originally from Turkey and lived over a decade in Connecticut before moving to sunny Florida. Knowing multiple languages and what it’s like to live in very different areas gives her a broad perspective on life and a leg up in articulating all that South Florida has to offer. “While paying attention to details, it's important for me not to lose sight of the big picture. I like being a solution-oriented person, and a path finder. I believe that being multi-cultural and going through different life experiences made me a more open minded, positive, and grateful person. It taught me the necessity of being open to "change", being flexible and adaptable in life, and staying strong, calm, and balanced even under pressure. It also helped me get better at listening to others. As we all might be coming from different backgrounds with many kinds of stories and perspectives, most commonly, we all need to be heard and understood. When I work with a client, I do my best to be a good listener in order to understand the wants and needs and make them happen. In real estate, negotiating on your client’s behalf to get them the best deal possible is essential. Being agile in using different negotiation techniques that I’ve learned in different cultures just becomes another advantage in my business."
FOLLOW UP AND ORGANIZATION
Ozlem has excellent follow-up skills and uses technology to make sure she never misses a beat. “I love setting up reminders and putting them in my calendar so as not to forget to follow up on things. I had to become over-organized by moving to a new country and raising two girls!” Her past work in accounting is appreciated by her clients today, as it gave her the foundation and the training to be organized in every aspect of each transaction, where accuracy is imperative. Ozlem understands the importance of structures and deadlines, and also her corporate background taught her valuable listening and problem-solving skills.
LIFE AND FUN
As well as being fond of evolving in her life journey and helping others as much as she can, Ozlem also commits to truly enjoy her life with her loved ones and believes in the responsibility and importance of having a good work-life balance. In her albeit limited spare time, Ozlem loves enjoying nature (especially the beaches) and has a ton of hobbies including hiking, kickboxing, yoga, meditation, sculpting, snorkeling, and much more! She believes that having hobbies in different areas helps her not only to expand her skill set and knowledge but also enjoy life more and therefore think and work more efficiently.
